Traditional wooden brick moulds were originally utilised in hand-moulding clay bricks across various regions, particularly throughout rural brickworks in South Asia and Europe. Workers packed wet clay tightly into the compartments, leveled off the excess, and inverted the wooden frames to release the shaped bricks out in the sun to dry.

Over decades of heavy industrial use, the timber absorbed moisture and weathered significantly, acquiring characteristic patinas marked by rusted iron straps and sun-bleached grains. Today, these utilitarian objects have found a second life in interior design as rustic decorative trays, organisers, and architectural display pieces.
